Degrees and Certifications:
BS Elementary Education K-6 (University of Maryland) MS Reading/Reading Specialist Certification (St. Joseph's University)
It has been my pleasure to teach BSI Literacy at Wedgwood Elementary School for 18 years.
My BSI Literacy classes (grades 2-5) provide students with the opportunity to spend extra time learning pertinent reading and writing skills which help to support and enhance classroom achievement. Throughout the year, my BSI students glean comprehension and decoding skills, build vocabulary and increase writing aptitude from a wide variety of text.
The Book-It Program:
BSI Literacy students have the unique opportunity to take part in the Book-It program, an at-home reading incentive program sponsored by, Pizza Hut. The program runs from October - March.
Students can earn a certificate, good for a free personal pan pizza and one topping at Pizza Hut, by reaching their monthly reading goals. Children who particpate in the program all six months will receive a special All Star Reader award from Pizza Hut. Those children will also be invited to a fun in-school pizza party given by Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. Lang.

Read Across America Day:
On or about March 1st, Wedgwood School celebrates Read Across America Day in honor of Dr. Seuss's Birthday! Don't forget to choose a great book for the Read Across Wedgwood time - 20 minutes of silent reading in the hallway!
