Welcome to the Birches’ library web page.  In the library, students are taught various library skills. Skills include learning about authors and illustrators, using an automated card catalog, locating books, and starting a research paper.

          Infused at all the grade levels is a love of literature for recreational and informational use.  Informal book talks, reading incentive programs, and book fairs are just some of the ways students are encourage to read.

          Students in grades 1 and 2 borrow one book for the week, while grades 3-5 may borrow two books. Unfortunately if the student doesn’t return a book he or she is not able to select a new one until the book is returned.

          Being able to use a library is a life skill.  This program works toward making all Birches’ students library users, not only in the school, but at the local and county libraries as well.
