Welcome!
It is with great pride that I introduce myself as the Principal of Birches Elementary School. I have been in education for 26 years. My journey began as a Washington Township High School teacher. The following year, I joined the Birches staff as a special education teacher. Throughout my career, I have been a firm believer in being a life-long learner. After receiving a Master’s Degree in Special Education with a certification as a Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant, I completed my certification in Guidance. Ultimately, my journey led me to attaining a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and a Certification as School Principal. Central and consistent to this career path was Birches School. I truly believe that my tenure as Principal has provided a forum to apply my talents, experiences, and education to lead the staff and students at Birches into the future. “Our greatest natural resource is the minds of our children.” This quote by Walt Disney exemplifies my philosophy of education. Children truly are our future. I believe that children must feel a sense of self-worth and success in school so that it is a place that they are eager to be a part of each and every day. It must also be the mission of educators to work together as a community to provide our children with the skills and experiences that will enable them to be successful in a global society. The experience your children will have at Birches will help to prepare them for the rigor of future coursework and the opportunity to work collaboratively to solve problems. Most importantly, it is our goal as educators to provide experiences that will instill the skills and the passion to make a difference in the world. Our staff is both highly qualified and highly motivated to implement innovative practices in education to insure learning of all students. We embrace varied learning styles while striving for academic excellence. The staff engages in ongoing, quality Professional Development experiences that embrace current trends in education. I am looking forward to the year ahead. Thank you for sharing your children with us. |
