Course Offerings, Path and Sequencing
Our Science Department's courses and have been designed to target students' diverse needs and interests in the study of science. Students typically follow one of three science course sequences (although change of sequence is allowed), each of which is designed to appropriately challenge students to achieve the NJ Core Curriculum Standards for Science. Typical course selections for each sequence include:

Applied Sequence
9th
  Applied Physical Science
10th
  Applied Biology
11th
  Applied Chemistry, Integrated Science
12th
  Applied Chemistry, Integrated Science

College-Prep Sequence

9th
  Introductory Physical Science
10th
  College Prep Biology
11th
  College Prep Chemistry
12th
  College Prep Physics

Advanced Sequence
9th
Honors Introductory Physical Science, Honors Biology
10th
  Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry
11th
Honors Physics, Honors Chemistry, AP Chemistry, AP Biology
12th
Honors Physics, Honors Chemistry, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP Biology, Anatomy & Physiology
In addition to the courses listed above the science department also offers the following elective courses for interested students. Science electives include:

  • College Prep Astronomy (semester course - 12th graders)
  • College Prep Environmental Science (semester course- 12th graders)
The science department also actively participates in the Advanced Placement (AP) Program. By successfully completing an AP course and passing the AP examination a student may earn college credit, depending on the his or her exam score and college of choice. Currently the science department offers the following AP courses:

  • Advanced Placement Biology
  • Advanced Placement Chemistry
  • Advanced Placement Physics "C" (Calculus-based)

The science department also offers several courses by which students may also qualify for college credit by means of a dual credit agreement existing between Washington Township Schools and Gloucester County College.

Dual credit agreements exist for the following courses:

  • AP Biology
  • AP Chemistry
  • AP Physics
  • Anatomy and Physiology
