Dear CRMS Families,
Welcome to Chestnut Ridge Middle School. I would like to introduce myself to the parents and community. I began my career teaching mathematics at the high school level in 1989 after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree from Rider University. I returned to my Alma Mater to receive my Master’s degree in Education Administration in 1993.
In 1995, I became an assistant principal in the 9-10 wing of Washington Township High School. After three years at the high school, I transferred to Chestnut Ridge to work with the many dedicated professionals who strive to provide educational services to the students of our school. I was named the Principal of Chestnut Ridge in July 2000.
My philosophy as an administrator is to establish a learning environment where students can feel secure, enjoy their school, and grow as individuals as a result of their positive classroom and co-curricular experiences. To reach this end, the administration must establish a climate of high staff morale, which results in a comfortable atmosphere for everyone associated with Chestnut Ridge. I believe that each student will be successful in this environment. We also strive to make children feel important and accepted by their peers. Consequently, there is no room for teasing, bullying, or harassing at Chestnut Ridge.
I encourage every student to get involved in at least one after school activity. We offer a wide range of activities for our students that go well beyond the typical classroom setting. I believe that these activities help the students grow as individuals and allow them to make new friends and work cooperatively with one another. I am truly fortunate and proud to be the principal of Chestnut Ridge Middle School, and I thoroughly enjoy working with the students and staff each day.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have a question or concern. I can be reached at 856-582-3535 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Mr. Jim Barnes, CRMS Principal
