Washington Township High School Displays Portrait of George WashingtonWASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - Washington Township High School was the recent recipient of a full-size replica of Rembrandt Peale’s famous “porthole” portrait of Founding Father George Washington from George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens. Additionally, the school received a United States flag that was flown over Mount Vernon, along with a framed certificate of authenticity. All three items have been permanently displayed in the lobby of the school’s Instructional Media Center. The donation also included an official Celebration Kit with additional educational programs and projects related to George Washington. “It is most appropriate that Washington Township High School was selected as a recipient of this beautiful portrait of George Washington,” WTHS Principal Rosemarie Farrow said. “It is appropriate, too, that we display it with pride in our IMC, the intellectual hub of our building. We are grateful for this donation and have given it a rightful place of honor.” - WTPS - |
