Washington Township School District Announces 2007-08 Teachers of the Year

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - Washington Township Superintendent of Schools Dr. Cheryl L. Simone recently and proudly announced the District’s 2007-08 Teachers of the Year. In addition to building and county recognition, the 12 honorees will be recognized at the April 29, 2008, meeting of the Washington Township Board of Education being hosted in the 11/12 auditorium of Washington Township High School at 8:00 p.m.

“To be selected as exemplary from among a teaching staff of over 850 professionals is indeed a remarkable achievement,” Dr. Simone said. “I commend each of these honorees for their dedication and professionalism and for the pride that they bring to our District.”

Grenloch Terrace Early Childhood Center: Debbie Melroy, kindergarten teacher

Bells Elementary School: Dona Tomczyk, 2nd grade teacher

Birches Elementary School: Gloria Myerson, 4th grade teacher

Hurffville Elementary School: Terry Boyajian, gifted and talented teacher

Thomas Jefferson Elementary School: Bonnie Arsenault, 2nd grade teacher

Wedgwood Elementary School: Jan Sanders, special education teacher

Whitman Elementary School: Charlene Stumpf, guidance counselor

Bunker Hill Middle School: Rosemarie MacMillan, 7th grade English teacher

Chestnut Ridge Middle School: Karen Carola, science teacher

Orchard Valley Middle School: Lori Luisi, 7th grade mathematics teacher

Washington Township High School: Robert Callaway, social studies teacher; and
David Wright, science teacher
