Officials Activate Traffic Light at Entrance to Washington Township High School Following Reconstruction ProjectWASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - County, municipal and Washington Township officials today came together to activate the traffic signal at the entrance of the 11/12 wing of Washington Township High School. The signal was added to the Hurffville-Cross Keys reconstruction and widening project as a result of safety concerns and to allow for easier access to and from the school. In addition to the added signal, the Hurffville-Cross Keys Road improvement included widening the section of the road between Greentree and Ganttown/Chapel Heights Roads to provide for two lanes of traffic in each direction, adding a center turn lane and turn lanes at the intersections. Bicycle compatible shoulders and a sidewalk were constructed along the north side of the project's length. "The traffic light will ensure the safety of our high school students and staff, as well as visitors to our athletic complex, as they enter and exit our campus," Superintendent of Schools Dr. Cheryl Simone said. "The road widening will help to alleviate traffic congestion around what is arguably the most utilized facility in all of Washington Township. I think the entire community will benefit from this extensive improvement. We are grateful for the support of the county and municipal officials who saw this long-anticipated project through to completion." - WTPS - |
