Washington Township Education Foundation Awards $11,700
to District Middle Schools for Technology Improvement
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - The Washington Township Education Foundation (WTEF), a non-profit organization that annually raises supplemental funds in support of the District's 11 schools, recently awarded $11,700 to the Bunker Hill, Chestnut Ridge and Orchard Valley middle schools. The monies will be used to purchase full-use projection systems that will be mounted in each school's cafetorium ceiling and will include a combination DVD/VCR player and computer hook-up capabilities.
The system will give each school the ability to conduct assemblies, workshops and meetings in a professional, state-of-the-art environment. The equipment will enhance audio and video presentations to the students, staff, parents and community at each location.
"Having an overhead digital projection system in each of our cafetoriums will have a positive effect on assembly programs, parent and staff meetings, as well as many other school functions," Orchard Valley Middle School Principal Steve Buono said. "We are truly grateful to the WTEF for providing the funding for this initiative. This is something that we could not have supported through our own school budgets, and we are very appreciative of the WTEF's work and generosity."
"The WTEF was thrilled to purchase this state-of-the-art projection system for our three middle schools," WTEF President Charlie Doud said. "The fact that every child in all three schools, as well as all visitors to these venues, will benefit from this purchase really enhances its value."
