Washington Township High School Minutemen Band and Color Guard to Perform
at Cotton Bowl in January 2010
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – The Washington Township High School Minutemen Marching Band has been selected to perform at festivities surrounding the 2010 Cotton Bowl hosted in Dallas, Texas. The band, under the director of Casey Corigliano, will participate in the Comerica Bank Parade on New Year’s Day in downtown Dallas. The parade will be televised on Dallas’ FOX affiliate and will be streamed live on the internet. Additionally, the band will be competing against other invited bands in a field show and will be performing in both pre-game and halftime shows of the nationally televised Cotton Bowl game on January 2nd.
The Washington Township contingent will ring in 2010 at the South Fork Ranch, which served as J.R. Ewing’s mansion on the popular television show “Dallas,” where an awards ceremony, dinner and dancing will be held for all of the participating bands. Students will also be treated to local sight-seeing and a trip to the Six Flags Over Texas amusement park.
“The high school administration is very excited to see our students have such a wonderful opportunity,” WTHS Principal Rosemarie Farrow said. “Our Marching Band and Color Guard are among the finest in the region, and the Cotton Bowl will give them a chance to showcase their talent. We wish Casey Corigliano and his staff the very best as they prepare our students for this terrific experience.”
