WTHS IMC Staff Hosting Food Drive to Benefit the Food Bank of South Jersey

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – Washington Township High School Librarian Ann Hill and her staff in the school’s Instructional Media Center were overwhelmed by the statistics shared by representatives from the Food Bank of South Jersey.  Learning that some 22,000 people had already turned to the food bank for food and that supplies have become alarming low, the IMC staff decided to provide food for thought by shining attention on the topic and to do their part to address the needs of the hungry in the area by hosting a Food Drive from October 5th through November 20th.  Bins are being set up throughout the school to accept donations of non-perishable food items.

“It is not just single mothers and the poor who are turning to area food banks for assistance,” Hill said.  “Working families are struggling as the effects of the recession have continued mounting.  We are encouraging our students and staff to help us replenish the shelves by donating non-perishable food items.”
