WTHS National Honor Society to Sponsor Local “Stockings for Soldiers” Drive;
Assistant Principals to Dye Hair for a Good Cause
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – Members of the Washington Township High School National Honor Society will be collecting items for the Delaware chapter of “Stockings for Soldiers” in an effort to send holiday cheer to U.S. Troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan this holiday season. The drive will run until November 20, 2009.
As an added incentive, WTHS Assistant Principals Al Dempsey and Theresa Pietrowski have agreed to die their hair red or blue and don army garb should the high school reach its goal of collecting $2,000 in cash (to offset shipping costs) and several boxes of donations.
Community members interested in supporting the drive can drop off donations in the 11/12 main office or directly to WTHS National Honor Society Advisor Ray Anderson in room A-35.
In addition to monetary donations, the National Honor Society is seeking “stocking stuffers” including: non-perishable food items, travel-sized toiletries and lotions (no soap products, please), pocket games and puzzles, dvd’s cd’s, current magazines, phone cards, paperback books, disposable cameras as well as greeting cards with personal messages.
For additional information, please visit www.stockingsforsoldiers.org or call Ray Anderson at 856-589-8500, x9104.
