“Our District has devoted much discussion, planning and implementation on safety issues throughout our schools over the past several years,” Superintendent of Schools Joe Bollendorf said. “We have increased and updated cameras in our buildings and on our grounds and buses. We have installed vestibules as safety barriers at all of our school locations. We are producing student-designed emergency door covers that will be outfitted on doors throughout the district to block view of classrooms in the event of an intruder. We are researching a locking system that could allow us to lock down a building with the touch of a button. Safety remains paramount to our mission, and unfortunately, world circumstances dictate that it remains a part of our daily conversations. I am grateful that these community security experts have organized to prioritize school safety through these ongoing dialogues.”
The first meeting of the Chief’s Roundtable is slated for January 25, 2017.
Safety in Schools to Bring Chiefs' Roundtable Together as Topic in Monthly Meetings
Washington Township Public Schools director of safety and security Bill Grutzmacher will be working with newly named Police Chief Pat Gurcsik and Fire Chief Pat Dolgos during monthly meetings to overview safety in the District. The “Chiefs’ Roundtable” will allow for ongoing and regular discussions between those who are directly responsible for keeping students and staff safe.
