PJ Day Doubles as Fundraiser
Whitman Elementary School Turns Annual Polar Express Pajama Day into Fundraiser for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – Whitman Elementary School had a little fun and did it for a great cause just prior to the annual holiday break. On Friday, December 23, 2016, Whitman held a Polar Express Pajama Day, which they incorporated into the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia PJ Day.
Called a “Polar Express Pajama Day with a TWIST!” students were encouraged to bring in change for the sick children spending the holidays in the hospital and are relying on care, cures and hope. Whitman raised an amazing $1,371.14.
And that wasn’t all. The classroom in each grade that collected the most money in donations also earned a dance party in the gym with physical education teacher Mr. Adam Clark. The classroom winners were: Mrs. Barbara Cona (kindergarten), Miss Samantha Haines (first grade), Mrs. Diane Fox (second), Mrs. Cathy Bennett (third), Mr. William Mumbower (fourth) and Mrs. Barbara O’Hara (fifth).
