Our Multiage 4/5 classroom is a continuation of the Multiage 2/3 concept.  Our children come to us after completing their second year in Multiage 2/3 and join the class that has moved on before them.  Our classroom too represents a community of learners where the children learn together in both the academic and social areas.  We model our learning environment after the workplace where there are people of different abilities and talents who work together to meet common goals. 

Learning takes place through themes which are derived from our science and social studies curriculum and is supported by the reading of books related to those themes.  The students are encouraged to be creative, research material, and assess their own work.   They also have input into their own learning and make choices as to how they want to present what they have learned. 

Having been together for four years, the students get to know each other very well.  They develop an appreciation for each other's abilities and talents.  This understanding of each other helps them to build a network of support as they move on to Middle School.
