Music Department

The music department at Whitman School:

1. A music room complete with a stereo system and classroom of instruments.

2. Fifth grade students can join chorus and audition to be in the bell choir.

3. Third, fourth, and fifth grade students are given the opportunity to learn to play a stringed instrument such as the violin, viola, cello, or string bass and participate in the elementary orchestra.

4. Fourth and fifth grade students can learn to play a wind or percussion instrument and perform in the elementary bands.

5. We have three music teachers in the building. One teaches general music, chorus, and bell choir. One teaches 2 elementary bands and group instrument lessons. One teaches elementary orchestra and group string lessons.

6. The Washington Township Music Programs are ranked in the top 100 schools for teaching music education in the nation.
