Sports Medicine
Mission Statement:To provide comprehensive health care and rehabilitation services to Washington Township student-athletes in order to reduce the risk of injury, decrease the amount of time lost from competition while emphasizing the individual’s mental and physical welfare.
Tanya Dargusch - Athletic Trainer
Tanya Dargusch has been Washington Township High School’s Athletic Trainer since December 1988. A native of Detroit, Michigan, she obtained her BS degree in Sports Medicine from Central Michigan University. Before she arrived at WTHS, she was one of the pioneers of industrial athletic training with her work at Walbro Corporation. She also was employed as a clinical athletic trainer at Life Care Institute. Over the years Tanya has worked with United States Olympic teams through the USOC, traveling with women’s Team Handball to France and Switzerland and Women’s Volleyball to Puerto Rico. Her national and state wide involvement has brought valuable experience to WTHS. Through the Athletic Trainers’ Society of New Jersey, she has served on the Executive Council, Government Relations, Public Relations and Policy and Procedures committees. She has served as the liaison for the National Athletic Trainers’ Association to the American Academy of Family Physicians and NATA secondary school committee member on the Council on Employment. She serves as a speaker nationally for Secondary School Employment Strategies. She is currently Secretary on the NATA District 2 Executive Council. She has participated as a panelist for the BOC Role Delineation. She was a consultant and member on the 2005 New Jersey Governor’s Task Force on Steroids. Ms. Dargusch also serves as a Clinical Site Instructor for Rowan University.
Ms. Dargusch has received national, regional and state professional awards. These include the NATA Service Award, EATA Scholastic Athletic Trainer Award, and the ATSNJ Distinguished Service Award. She was also inducted into the New Jersey Scholastic Coaches Association Hall of Fame, Class of 2009.
She currently resides in Washington Township with her husband, Jim and two children Katrina and Jarrett.

Eric A. Schwartz - Assistant Athletic Trainer
Eric A. Schwartz joined Washington Township High School in August of 2011 as the Assistant Athletic Trainer. A native of Ewing, New Jersey, he obtained his B.S. degree in Movement and Exercise Science from East Stroudsburg University in 1998, and his Master’s degree in Health Education from The College of New Jersey in1999. Mr. Schwartz has been a state licensed and nationally certified athletic trainer since 1999. Most of his professional career has been spent working with students in the high school setting. During the past nine summers he has served as a unit leader for the Teen Travel Camp at the Jewish Community Center of Princeton Mercer Bucks.
Over the years, Mr. Schwartz has worked various NJSIAA tournaments of champions from the wrestling individual tournaments, track and field, swimming, diving, and wrestling team tournaments. His state wide involvement has brought valuable experience to WTHS. Mr. Schwartz has served on the Executive Council, Secondary School, and Public Relations committees of the Athletic Trainers’ Society of New Jersey. He currently services the Athletic Trainers’ Society of New Jersey as secretary. In addition, for the past six years, Mr. Schwartz has served on the NJSIAA wrestling committee as a medical consultant. Mr. Schwartz received the NJSIAA Service Award in 2008.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf. He currently resides in Philadelphia with his wife, Rebecca, and son, Benjamin.
