Welcome to the web-based services of the Washington Township High School
Guidance Department. It is our intent to provide you with a myriad of
information with regard to services available through our department.
According to the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), "Counseling is a process of helping people by assisting them in making decisions and changing behavior. School counselors work with all students, school staff, families, and members of the community as an integral part of the education program. School counseling programs promote school success through a focus on academic achievement, prevention and intervention activities, advocacy, and social/emotional and career development." School counselors are certified specially trained individuals who work in concert with the entire professional population to promote and enhance student learning. They work with individuals, as well as small and large groups. WTHS counselors provide a variety of programs throughout the school year to provide information to students, staff, and parents. Among those are College Planning Night, Financial Aid Night for Parents, Scheduling Presentations for both students and parents, and PSAT presentations and college planning for juniors. Students can make appointments to see their counselors by completing an appointment request form in the guidance office. Parents can make appointments for seeing their child's counselor by calling the guidance office. |
