 Welcome Back, Devon
Anyone who has ever been bullied will identify with Devon, a middle school student whose slight stature and meek demeanor lead to constant harassment by three older classmates. Devon feels helpless against their physical and verbal abuse. He even fakes illness to avoid his tormentors – but nothing stops them. While shooting video footage in a school corridor, Nicole, a fellow classmate, catches an episode of bullying on tape. Afraid of getting involved, she stays silent – until the bullies put Devon in the hospital. Finally, Nicole tells the assistant principal what she knows. As a result, the three boys are arrested and taken into custody. When Devon returns to school, he is surprised by a school wide assembly welcoming him back -- and taking a stand against bullying. Between scenes from Devon’s story, students speak frankly about being ridiculed for wearing the “wrong” clothes, being hit simply because the bully felt like it, and staying silent because they fear retaliation. Law enforcement officials, counselors and teachers relate that even young harassers can be sent to jail, assure students that they will be believed and protected by adults in whom they confide, and remind viewers that the only way to stop the bully cycle is to speak out. The combination of real-life experience and expert reassurance will help students to open up and talk about this all-too-common occurrence.

Bullies, Loners, and Violence
Teens Joey and Kristin are attractive, confident, outgoing … and both are bullies. Kristin is proud of being the most popular girl in class. She and her friends tease kids they consider nerds. Joey thrives on intimidation, pulling punches at other students to make them cringe. “Flipped” into attending a new school dressed in “nerd clothes”, the two are teased unmercifully on the same day there’s been a school shooting in a nearby community. This reversal of fortune is hard on them, as they find they’re not able to brush off the teasing as they had assumed they could. Other bullied students commiserate with them, mentioning they’ve had thoughts of suicide or revenge. In an emotional after-school vigil, students from Colombine and Santana high schools share their experiences – leading the group to a decision to treat others fairly and to do what they can to stop school violence. From the producer of the explosive, award-winning Teen Files and Scared Straight series
