• Welcome to the Birches School Library!
    My name is Mrs. Maciunas and I am thrilled to teach all the students about the great books and resources we have in our library.
  • MISSION STATEMENT:
    "The mission of the school library program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information."
    The library media specialist builds 21st century information literacy skills by empowering students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.
    The school media centers serve to support the curricula of the many departments and to supplement in terms of material. The school media centers also provide students with a variety of materials which can enhance their personal growth. The atmosphere of the school media centers is friendly , inviting and operates for the benefit of all students and staff.
  • First and Second grade students take out one book per visit.
    Third, Fourth and Fifth grade students can borrow two books per visit.
    Books go out for one week at a time.
    Please return your borrowed book/s during your library period so you may select new books.
    The library is open 5 days a week, Your child is welcome to exchange their finished books early, they do not need to wait for their library period. If they need a book for a project please have them come see me, I am more than happy to help. Students are also welcome every day during their recess.
