Ms. Shannon Marino
Hello! My name is Shannon Marino and I am your child’s 3rd grade teacher. I am very excited about this school year. I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself.
It is hard to believe this is the start of my 15th year in Washington Township Schools. I actually began teaching in Chestnut Ridge Middle School. I taught eighth grade reading and English there for two years. I had a wonderful experience at the middle school to say the least; however, my heart has always been in the elementary classroom.
I graduated from the University of Scranton with a degree in Elementary Education. After college I joined the Peace Corps to teach school and train Mayan teachers in Central America. Upon returning to the United States a year and a half later, I taught for the University of Scranton Education Department while obtaining my graduate degree in Reading Education. In 2001, I returned to my hometown of Williamstown and began working for the Washington Township School District.
Teaching is, and has always been my passion in life. I promise to make every attempt necessary for your child to succeed and have fun in third grade. I am a very “hands on” teacher and will encourage participation from all students. I try to make every lesson, activity, or assignment both meaningful and fun. I also try to keep homework to a minimal level.
The philosophy by which I work is that Teacher + Parent + Student = Success. Please do not hesitate to call or e-mail me for any reason. I believe that communication is the key to a successful school year. Since I check email regularly both at home and at school, this is often the quickest and most efficient way to get in touch with me. I also make every attempt to check student assignment books daily, so feel free to jot me a note inside. I will try my best to keep you informed of all classroom events as well as your child’s progress in all subject areas. I have a very open classroom; so if you’d like to stop in to visit or to help out, just let me know. My e-mail address is firstname.lastname@example.org. If you need to reach me via phone, please call (856) 589-7459 x4124 and leave a message. I will return the call as soon as possible.
It is my absolute pleasure to have the opportunity to work with your child this year. Third grade is a wonderful school year in general, and I feel especially lucky to be a part of Hurffville School.
