Welcome to seventh grade! I am anticipating a wonderful 2017 – 2018 school year. Seventh grade is full of many new learning adventures and we will spend some time getting to know each other through our reading and writing. Here are some interesting facts about me. I graduated Albright College in 2002 with a degree in English and Secondary Education. I have been teaching seventh grade English, at Orchard Valley, since September 2008. Before teaching at OVMS, I taught high school English for four years. I have been teaching for 14 years.
I am married to my incredible husband, Tom, have a three-year-old son, Travis, a one and a half-year-old daughter, Anna, and a five-year-old dog, Wrigley. Being a parent keeps me very busy. When I am not at school, teaching and snapping photos for the yearbook, I am at home enjoying my family. Some of my hobbies include reading, scrapbooking, and traveling. My life is truly an adventure!
In English class this year, we will take many adventures in reading and writing! Our new Units of Study will focus on many different genres: narrative, informational, literary, and argumentative will be our main units of study. There are some changes to the schedule this year. We now have a new 49-minute ELA period, plus an additional 49-minute WRAP (Writing and Reading Application Period) once a week. Please arrive to class on time, bring your materials, and plan to learn something new every day. As you can see, we will be very busy in English! Please check my website often; I will use it to post important information for our class.
