Mrs. Candy Maxwell
As long as I can remember music has always been a big part of my life. I always felt safe in the music room of my school. It was the one place in the world where I felt like I was somebody. As a music teacher, I hope to help nurture the talents that all children have inside them. I have been teaching music since 1994 and have been in Washington Township since 2000. Before I came to Whitman, I was a high school/middle school choral director and general music teacher. As a music teacher, I strive to help students appreciate all types of music. Music is such an important part of a well-rounded education.
Besides teaching music at Whitman, I also teach private lessons to clarinet students. I have been playing the clarinet since I was 10 years old and am lucky enough to still perform today. I am the principal clarinetist of The Philharmonic of Southern New Jersey. The orchestra performs concerts at the Eastern Center for the Performing Arts housed at Eastern High School in Voorhees, NJ. You can get ticket information and concert dates by visiting our website at www.psnj.org.
I enjoy meeting parents of the children I teach. If at any time you have questions about music, please be sure to contact me.
