Miss Lauren Gregory
Dear Parents and Guardians,
My name is Lauren Gregory and I am your child’s Second Grade teacher! Before I take some time to further introduce myself, I would like to officially welcome you to a new school year and, for those of you who are new to our “family”, to Whitman Elementary School as well. This is a very exciting time for you, your child, and even for me! The early days of elementary school are one of the most important milestones in a child’s life, and I am honored that I get to play an essential role in creating unforgettable memories year after year.
As you may already be able to tell, teaching is more than just a “job” to me; it is my calling, my passion, and my way of life. Being a teacher is not what I do, but who I am and always wanted to become. My dream was first realized when I completed a comprehensive teacher preparation program at Monmouth University and obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Spanish. Since beginning my teaching career nine years ago, I have had some amazing opportunities and taught in some of the most wonderful places, but I am thrilled to be sharing my fourth year in Washington Township with you and your child!
Second Grade is a BIG year! It is where we solidify the groundwork that has been laid by your child’s Kindergarten and First Grade teachers, and prepare them for the transition to the intermediate grades. This is why I find it is extremely important that my students are welcomed into a learning environment that recognizes and embraces their unique qualities, as well as allows them to interact with new knowledge in a way that is relatable, motivating, and fun! In addition to this, I firmly believe that each child’s capacity to learn is different from the next; therefore, I am committed to ensuring that my instruction is consistently differentiated to meet each of their needs. Throughout this school year, these philosophies will be threaded throughout each of our lessons as we focus on a wide array of topics and concepts across all the major content areas.
With that said, I am looking forward to a successful school year! Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at any time.
