Miss Lauren Gregory

Dear Parent and/or Guardian,

My name is Lauren Gregory and I am your child’s Kindergarten teacher. Before I take some time to further introduce myself, I would like to officially welcome you to a new school year and, for those of you who are new to our “family”, to Whitman Elementary as well. This is a very exciting time for you, your child, and even for me! The first day of elementary school is one of the most important milestones in a child’s life, and I feel honored that I get to play an essential role in creating unforgettable memories year after year.

As you may already be able to tell, teaching is more than just a “job” to me; it is my calling, my passion, and my way of life. Being a teacher is not what I do, but who I am and always wanted to become. My dream was first realized when I completed a comprehensive teacher preparation program at Monmouth University and obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Spanish. Since beginning my teaching career, I have had some amazing opportunities and taught in some of the most wonderful places, but I am thrilled that I now have the opportunity to work with the students of Washington Township!

Kindergarten is a BIG year! It is where the foundation for future academic and social success are taught and learned. This is why I find it is extremely important that my students are welcomed into a learning environment that recognizes and embraces their unique qualities, as well as allows them to interact with new knowledge in a way that is relatable, motivating, and fun! In addition to this, I firmly believe that each child’s capacity to learn is different from the next; therefore, I am committed to ensuring that my instruction is consistently differentiated to meet each of their needs. Throughout this school year, these philosophies will be threaded throughout each of our lessons as we focus on a wide array of topics and concepts across all the major content areas. Together, we will explore handwriting and other initial writing skills, letter recognition and sounds, emergent reading strategies, oral language development, listening skills, number sense and operations, early geometry skills, and mathematical relationships…just to name a few!

With that said, I am looking forward to a successful school year and working with both you and your child! Should you have any questions throughout the school year, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best,

Miss Lauren Gregory
