• Grade 7 Computer & Financial Literacy

    Grade 7 students will use the following programs in their Computer and Financial Literacy course (one marking period):

     ·        Microsoft Word: to edit and format documents.

    ·         Microsoft Excel:  to create spreadsheets, generate charts/graphs 

    ·         Microsoft Access:  to create databases

    ·         Microsoft PowerPoint:  to design multimedia presentations

    ·         Microsoft Publisher:  for desktop publishing 

    ·         Internet: for research and graphics

     Financial literacy includes the application of knowledge, skills, and ethical values and making consumer and financial decisions that impact the self, the family, and the local and global communities.  Some of the topics included are:

    ·         Personal and financial responsibility

    ·         Money Management – setting financial goals; budgets

    ·         Credit and debt management

    ·         Short/long terms goals

    ·         Planning, savings, and investment (Stocks, mutual funds)

    ·         Becoming a critical consumer

    ·         Income and careers

    ·         Savings and retirement

    All assignments will be completed in class.  Some Fridays will be reserved for the make-up of assignments.

     Extra help is available during the following times:

    ·         Lunch study hall

    ·         Computer Club (after school on Thursday)

    ·         After school by appointment
