What is Fundations?
Fundations is a phonological/phonemic awareness, phonics and spelling program for the general education classroom. It is the program that has been adopted by Washington Township in to promote spelling and reading fluency for students in grades K through 2.
Your child will participate in whole group presentations of daily Fundations lessons during the Language Arts Literacy block of time. Fundations lessons focus on carefully sequenced skills that include print knowledge, alphabet awareness, phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, decoding, vocabulary, fluency, and spelling. Critical thinking, speaking and listening skills are practiced during Storytime activities. Targeted small group intervention is available for students who require additional assistance with phonics and/or spelling.
