• Required Materials:

    a. At this time, Grade 7 students will be working fully digitally due to Covid-19.  Normally, for Grade 7 students - a 2 inch binder with lined paper and a folder.  Seventh grade students will have an AM binder for Periods 1-4 and a PM binder for Periods 5-8.  Please use dividers to separate your subjects.   

    b.  laptop computer, blue or black pen or pencil and an assignment book.  

    Research Materials: 

    Students will frequently need access to their laptop computer, online service, and printer (no printer in Fall 2020 due to Covid-19) for research assignments and to access the TCI program. Normally, students could also access their local library.  If your child has a problem with accessing wi-fi, please contact Mrs. Bathurst so she can get  you in touch with the Technology Department in order to access wifi.  Please contact Mrs. Bathurst if you have any questions or concerns. 

    Late Work

    It is the student's responsibility to come to class with all assignments completed and on time. Please read the district updated policies on late work during Hybrid and Remote instruction due to Covid-19.  Normally, homework, categorized as a supportive assessment, would be accepted late, but students would only receive half credit upon turning it in.   Short or long  term assessments, categorized as a major or minor assessment, would be accepted late with the grade dropping ten points for it's being late. In the case of an absence, standard school district policy will be followed.



    Grading Policy


    Major Assessments – 50%

                This topic consists of items like traditional objective tests, alternative assessments culminating a unit such as writing or speaking evaluations, research projects, etc.


    Minor Assessments – 35%

                This topic consists of items like traditional quizzes, short-term alternative assessments as part of a learning unit such as writing or speaking evaluations, short-term research projects, etc.


    Supportive Assessments – 15%

                This topic consists of items like class work assignments and homework assignments, frequently background readings and questions to prepare for a lesson or an extension activity designed to widen the exploration from a classroom learning activity.   Occasionally, homework may be one step along the way to completing a major or minor assessment.


    A Note From Mrs. Bathurst
    A popular saying is "The object of teaching a child is to enable the child to get along without the teacher." Mrs. Bathurst's hope for her students is that by utilizing the exploration of current events and literature and the examination of culture, history, geography, economics, and government they will be better able to understand the world. As a result, students can be more active participants in shaping world events as the future unfolds.  Thank you in advance for all of your hard work, enthusiasm, support, and cooperation.  Social Studies provides wonderful opportunities and students have a lot of rewarding experiences to look forward to.
