Humanities is offered in grades 6, 7 and 8 to students who meet the criteria. The class is a rigorously paced course that allows students to delve into the history, culture, geography, government, and economics of the content areas they are exploring while also devoting significant attention to current events throughout the United States and around the world. This gifted and talented program parallels the content of the regular Social Studies curriculum in each grade. However, it expands the subject matter through extended readings, learning activities that foster critical thinking, assessments that focus on higher level skills, particularly writing and speaking, and community service projects. Students are required to participate in several competitions such as the Junior Model United Nations and Law Adventure, a Mock Trial contest.
