    It's a fact of life-children watch what people around them do. To encourage your child's reading, let them see that you like to read. Try these suggestions.

    Make it easy. Keep good books, magazines, and newspapers around the house for all of you. This will give everyone plenty of opportunities to read.

    Let's hear it. Read interesting things aloud: news stories, funny jokes, a delicious recipe, or words to a song
    . This will boost your child's excitement for the written word.

    Do it. Let your child see you read for pleasure every day. Leave a little time during the day for quiet and shared reading. This will set a good example for them to follow
