•     Reading aloud picture books to children at every age nurtures and develops a child’s socio-psychological well-being, socio-linguistic acquisition of language, speaking and listening vocabularies, reading comprehension skills, critical thinking abilities, and of greatest importance, positions children to be life-long readers. All of this can be accomplished by taking a few minutes each day to read aloud to children by using something as simple as a picture book. Parents/guardians will have the opportunity to bond with their children, enjoy rich conversations, expand their speaking and listening vocabularies, strengthen reading comprehension skills, develop an awareness of social justice, and serve as a stepping off point on their voyage to life-long reading. Home is the harbor where this voyage begins.
