• Here are some commonly used short-cuts for writing the Spanish special characters using a PC keypad.
    Alt 160 = á      Alt 130 = é                     
    Alt 164 = ñ      Alt 165 = Ñ
    Alt 168 = ¿      Alt 173 = ¡
    Alt 144 = É      Alt 162 = ó
    Alt 161 = í       Alt 163 = ú
     
    To type accent marks or other special characters, hold down the alt key while you type the number which corresponds to the character you wish to type.  When you let up on the alt key, the character will appear. In order to do this, you must use they keyboard number pad.

    This method will usually not work on a computer without a number pad.

    ***If you are using a laptop computer the procedures are a little more tricky: 1.

    Make sure the Number Lock is on 2. Hold down Alt + Function key (Fn) + code 3.

    Make sure you are using the blue numbers above the letters on the right-hand side.
