    After reading the selection, “From Gutenberg to the Internet”, (At the end of Chapter 29) respond to the following questions using your Cornell Notes to develop a response for each which fully and accurately answers the questions following best practices in writing.

     

    1. According to the information cited in the reading passage, what were the three (3) challenges Johannes Gutenberg faced when developing “a way to print books that would cost far less money”?
    • Be sure to fully describe the three action plans carried out by Gutenberg which allowed him to reach his goal.
    • Don’t forget to make a connection to your personal knowledge by sharing an action plan you needed to create when facing a challenge.

     

    1. Johannes Gutenberg “faced some serious business problems”. What were two (2) of the business setbacks Gutenberg experienced during the years he was inventing a printing press?
    • Be sure to describe the two (2) business setbacks Gutenberg experienced by citing examples from the passage about his dealings with his business partners.
    • Don’t forget to make a connection to a time in which you had to navigate, or work through, a difference of opinion with a friend, classmate, teammate, or sibling.

     

    1. Gutenberg’s “printing press made it possible to produce books much more quickly and cheaply than ever before.” Cheaper “books spread new ideas quickly and sped up the process of change.” What is an invention that you know of which connects to at least two (2) of the four (4) innovative qualities evident in the printing press?
    • Be sure to fully describe how your invention is connected to the two (2) qualities by citing examples from the passage and showing how they connect to your invention.  
    • Don’t forget to relate your personal experience by sharing an example of how your life has been impacted by this invention.
