Mr. Evan Smith

Evan Smith is the 4th and 5th Grade Orchestra Director at Bells, Wedgewood, Hurffville, Thomas Jefferson, and Whitman Elementary Schools in the Washington Township School District. He has earned three college degrees.

Mr. Smith's educational approach is utilizes utilitarian, humanistic, civic, economic, and social melioristic philosophies. His classes are centered around the students’ needs and interests. He believes music teaches many important aspects such as Responsibility, Respect, Time Management, Hard Work yields results, Team Work, Self Confidence, and more.

Mr. Smith has been studying music since second grade. His grandfather inspired him to begin clarinet after introducing him to the sounds of Louis Armstrong and Pete Fountain. From there his friends, family, grade level teachers, band and orchestra directors have provided him with the support, advice, and encouragement to continue pursue his interest. Due to these factors, Mr. Smith chose a career to share his passion for music and its positive effects with world. He does so by touring the country performing as a professional musician and by teaching music.

Mr. Smith hopes to inspire and develop lifelong musicians in his classes.  To Mr. Smith, a lifelong musician is a person who has an appreciation for all arts and chooses to keep music as a part of their lives as they pursue careers they desire (i.e. engineer, doctor, zoologist, etc.).
