Hello 3rd Graders,
For the next several weeks, we will be studying a piece of music called "Carnival of the Animals." This work was written by Camille Saint Saens, a French composer who lived many years ago. Saint Saens wrote "Carnival of the Animals" as a distraction while he was writing another piece of music. It was performed for a small gathering of friends. Saint Saens did not want the general public to hear it because he did not want to be thought of as someone who composed silly pieces. For your lesson today, I would like you to read a little bit more about Camille Saint Saens. Follow the link below to take you to a short biography. Next week, we will start to listen to one of the selections from this work called "The Birds." Before listening to this selection next week, I would like you to predict what you think it will sound like. How is this composer going to make this music sound like birds? Please visit my Padlet page to leave a prediction for me. We will find out next week if you were right or not. Enjoy!
