• Our last selection that we will listen to from Camille Saint Saens' "Carnival of the Animals" is called "The Fossils." Fossils are the remains or traces of plants and animals that lived long ago. They usually formed from the hard parts—such as shells or bones—of living things. When you think of bones, what instrument do you think of?  What instrument have we played in music class that was sometimes called "The Bones." If you are thinking of the xylophone, you are correct.  Saint Saens was one of the first composers to use the xylophone in his music for orchestras.  Listen to the link of "The Fossils" and listen for the sound of bones played by the xylophones.  The Fossils  Now, find something in your house that could sound like the rattling of bones.  Play along as you listen to the song again.  Let me know what you chose to use to play along with this selection of music by leaving a message for me on my Padlet Response page.  Grade 3 Padlet Response
