Vivaldi
  • Today we will be talking about an Italian composer who lived a long time ago.  His name was Antonio Vivaldi.  Follow the link to read a little bit about his exciting life.  Find out why he was called the "Red Priest." Biography of Vivaldi  He wrote a concerto (A concerto is a classical piece of music that highlights a solo instrument against a full orchestra.)  One of his most famous concertos was a piece he called "The Four Seasons." Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Vivaldi based each of his The Four Seasons concertos on a set of sonnets -- poems. The music in each of the Four Seasons describes exactly what's going on in the poems. "Spring" includes birds, brooks, breezes and thunderstorms. See how many of those you can hear in Vivaldi's music. Vivaldi based each of his The Four Seasons concertos on a set of sonnets -- poems.
