• NJDOE Bridge Year Pilot Program

    The New Jersey Department of Education has established a Bridge Year Pilot Program for students in the graduating classes of 2021 and 2022 who wish to attend WTHS after graduation with the opportunity to offset disruption to learning opportunities and participation in extracurricular activities and/or NJSIAA spring sports (must pay any applicable WTHS fees) that might have resulted from the closure of school to in-person instruction in Spring 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic (Please note that students in the Bridge Year may not participate in NJSIAA fall or winter sports).

    Bridge Year Eligibility

    • Students who wish to participate in the Bridge Year must click here to complete the WTHS Microsoft Office Form by February 15th of their senior year.
    • Students must be in the graduating Class of 2021 or Class of 2022.
      • Students may participate in the WTHS graduation at the end of the senior year or Bridge Year. The diploma is withheld until completion of the Bridge Year. 
    • Students must have completed all state and WTHS graduation requirements by the end of their senior year and prior to the Bridge Year.
    • Students must remain enrolled in the same high school they attended during their junior year.
    • Students must take between 9 and 12 credits each semester
      • During the fall semester credits can be a combination of WTHS credits, RCSJ college credits
        • May also take up to 3 credits offered by a four-year institution at any high school in the state or at any other location to fulfill the student's credit requirements. 
        • For NJSIAA, students must enroll in less than 12 college credits to not be considered a full-time college student.
        • College credits are to the parent's expense or students could be eligible for a financial aid grant under the Community College Opportunity Grant Program (CCOG).
      • During the spring semester credits must be taken at RCSJ college
        • May also take up to 3 credits offered by a four-year institution at any high school in the state or at any other location to fulfill the student's credit requirements.
        • For NJSIAA, students must enroll in less than 12 college credits to not be considered a full-time college student.
        • College credits are to the parent's expense or students could be eligible for a financial aid grant under the Community College Opportunity Grant Program (CCOG).
    • Students do not need to participate in health, safety, and physical education.
    • Students must pay any applicable WTHS student athletics and activities fees, if participating. 
    • Students must be 19 years old or younger during the entirety of the Bridge Year
      • Exception: A student with disabilities is eligible to participate if the student will turn 20 years old during the Bridge Year due to services provided under the student's IEP.
    • Students must maintain a GPA of 2.0 (75 or higher) during the Bridge Year.
