     FIRST GRADE

    Goals & Expectations

    Students are formally introduced to the features and functions of computers. Students will be able to successfully navigate through and use developmentally appropriate computer technology.

     

     

    SECOND GRADE

    Goals & Expectations
    Building on grade 1 goals and expectations, students are introduced to using developmentally appropriate digital resources to solve problems individually and collaboratively.

     

     

    THIRD GRADE

    Goals & Expectations
    Building on grade 2 goals and expectations, students are introduced to using developmentally appropriate digital resources to solve problems individually and collaboratively.

     

     

    ·         Introduce all third grade students to the computer lab as a useful tool in their lives.
    Familiarize the students with the computer lab and its functions.

    ·         Introduce students to the parts of a computer and proper operating techniques.

    ·         Become familiar with the keyboard, specific functions of keys common to all computers and proper keyboarding techniques in order to use the computer efficiently.

    ·         Utilize CD ROMs for enjoyment as well as research tools.

    ·         Introduce word processing as a means to enhance the writing process.

    ·         Utilize simulation software to enhance the classroom science curriculum.

    ·         Use bookmarks to access the Internet.

    ·         Use the Internet efficiently, effectively, ethically, and safely.

    ·         Use drawing software as a creative application of the computer.
     
     
     

    FIFTH GRADE

    Goals & Expectations

    Students will demonstrate the ability to use developmentally appropriate digital tools (e.g. Keyboarding Software, Word Processing Software, Drawing Software, Websites) to solve problems individually and collaboratively. Students will also demonstrate the ability to practice cyber safety, cyber security, and cyber ethics when using existing and emerging technologies.

     

    ·         Introduce all fifth grade students to the computer lab as a useful tool in their lives

    ·         Familiarize the students with the computer lab and its functions.

    ·         Reinforce skills with the keyboard, specific functions of keys common to all computers, and proper keyboarding techniques in order to use the
    computer efficiently.

    ·         Utilize CD ROMs for enjoyment as well as research tools.

    ·         Introduce word processing as a means to enhance the writing process.

    ·         Introduction of Terrapin Logo programming as a means to explore mathematics and simple programming language and techniques.

    ·         Utilize simulation and problem solving software to enhance the standard curriculum.

    ·         Use of databases to access and search for information.

    ·         Use bookmarks and search engines to use the Internet efficiently, effectively, ethically and safely.

    ·         Use drawing software as a creative application of the computer.
