Velvet S. McNeil has been privileged during her 20-year professional career to do work that she is passionate about, including shooting photos, teaching young students and showcasing her artwork in galleries.

Mrs. McNeil is an award-winning photojournalist who has photographed everything from the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks to community street fairs. She did much of her visual journalism as a staff photographer for The Detroit News. Her work has appeared in national media outlets.

Mrs. McNeil studied photography at the University of Westminster in London. She earned a bachelor’s degree in studio art and secondary art education from Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York, and a master’s of fine arts in photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Velvet is a New York City native who lives in South Jersey.
