Welcome to Mrs. Sheridan's K-2 Self-Contained Class
On Thursday, September 1st your child will complete one of the most important milestones in his/her life ~ the first day of school. I understand that you and your child may meet this day with excitement or apprehension (or a little of both). I hope this webpage will help you to understand what to expect in kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade and answer any questions that you may have.
My name is Stacey Sheridan and I will be your child’s teacher this year. This is my 17th year at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. I graduated from Rowan University with a Teacher of the Handicapped Degree. I am married and have two children, Ashley and Bobby. They both attended TJ and had an amazing experience with wonderful teachers. I feel so lucky to be able to teach with the amazing staff at TJ!
Parent/Teacher Relationship
I believe that a good parent-teacher relationship is necessary for maximum school success. Throughout the year I will communicate with you through notes, telephone calls, Remind App, report cards and parent-teacher conferences. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Please feel free to leave a message on my voice mail, Stacey Sheridan (589-8248) ext. 3918. In addition, my email address is ssheridan@wtps.org.
School Supplies
It is not necessary for your child to bring any school supplies to school. I will provide a Take-home folder, scissors, glue, pencils, crayons and paper. It would be helpful for your child to bring a book bag/backpack to school each day. The backpack should be large enough for any papers, projects, and library books your child will bring home. Also, a smock or an old Tshirt will be needed for Art.
Snack
Your child will need to bring a snack to school each day. Snacks should be labeled with your child’s name and brought to school in a bag or lunch box. Please try to send in a snack that can be easily opened by your child.
Money
On occasion it will be necessary for your child to bring money to school. ALWAYS send money in a SEALED ENVELOPE with the following information on it:
- Your child’s first and last name
- The amount of money
- The purpose for the money
- Please have my name also-Sheridan
This information helps tremendously and reduces the likelihood of errors. Also, if the envelope is left on the bus or dropped in the hallway, this information will help the money to be returned to our classroom.
Changes in Transportation
If you plan to pick up your child you MUST send in a written note. Please mark the note IMPORTANT so that it is read prior to dismissal. REMEMBER….You must first report to the office, show proper identification and sign your child out. This is done for your child’s protection.
Elementary School is such an exciting time to see your child grow academically, socially, and emotionally. We are going to have an AMAZING year in Room 18! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions at all. We are a team when it comes to your child's education.
