I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be Bells Reading Specialist. It has been a great experience so far mostly because of the students. They are so positive and eager to learn. My goal is to help your child develop a love of reading, to see it as more than a "subject" and to find the genre they enjoy most.
I thought it would be helpful to share my previous experience. I started my teaching career in a small private school for emotionally disturbed students in Philadelphia. In 1988, I began my teaching career here in Washington Township at Whitman School. I had many roles at Whitman. I was a special eduaction teacher in the self-contained classroom , a 4th grade teacher and I taught READ180 and System 44. In 2017 , I decided to give high school a try, but it was not for me. In 2018, I began my time here at Bells. I had the pleasure and wonderful experience of working with Melissa Hermley and the most amazing group of 3rd graders. It was diffficult to leave them mid-year, but I see them everyday.
Besides teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband. We have two 3-year old German Shepherds, Cyrus and Sofie, and one cat, Chessie. I love to cook and try new recipes and experiment with different foods. Reading is one of my top favorite things, but I don't get to do much of that during the school year. I do a lot of reading over the summer. I enjoy being outside and taking walks on trails. Seeing my family and spending time with friends is an important part of my life too.
Thank you for visitig my page. Looking forward to a great year!
