BA-Music Education from Glassboro State/Rowan University Principal Clarinetist, Philharmonic of Southern New Jersey www.psnj.org
Ms. Candy Maxwell
As long as I can remember music has always been a big part of my life. I always felt safe in the band room of my school. It was the one place in the world where I felt like I was somebody. As a band director, I hope to help nurture the talents that all music students have inside them. I have been teaching music since 1994 and have been in Washington Township since 2000. Before I came to Bunker Hill MS, I was a high school/middle school choral director, a general music teacher, and an elementary band director. As a music teacher, I strive to help students appreciate all types of music. Music is such an important part of a well-rounded education.
Up until June 2019, I was the general music teacher at Whitman Elementary School. I enjoyed teaching the kids over there but something was missing. When I decided to become a music teacher, teaching band was the one thing I always wanted to do. In May 2019, I was offered a new position in the district as the band director for Bunker Hill Middle School. The move to the middle school was something I always wanted. I am extremely honored to finally work as a band director and to be a Bulldog!
Besides teaching band at BHMS, I also teach private lessons to clarinet students. I have been playing the clarinet since I was 10 years old and am lucky enough to still perform today. I am the principal clarinetist of The Philharmonic of Southern New Jersey. The orchestra performs concerts at the Eastern Center for the Performing Arts housed at Eastern High School in Voorhees, NJ. You can get ticket information and concert dates by visiting our website at www.psnj.org.
I enjoy meeting parents of the students I teach. If at any time you have questions about music, please be sure to contact me.
