Mrs. Jamie Tippner

Hello! Thank you for stopping by my page.

I am Mrs. Tippner and I teach Integrated Science II, Biology, and Human Biology.

I have a passion for the life sciences, the outdoors, and my students! In my free time you can find me on the softball field, kayaking, reading a good book, or hiking with my dog, Lady. My favorite places to be are in the classroom, camping, and Disney World!

My Teaching Methodology:

In my classroom you will likely find students working collaboratively and engaged in scientific conversation. It is my goal to emerse my students in science in a way that is both fun and memorable. I intend to prepare all of my students to make educated life decisions as it pertains to scientific concepts such as global warming and personal health. This is done through gaining a basic understanding of scientific concepts while also connecting these concepts to current and relevant real-world examples.

In my classroom, my relationship with my students drives my instruction. In the process of instructing scientific content, students are encouraged to share their personal experiences and questions to assist in driving classroom conversations. This further assists in creating a classroom environment that fosters curiosity while allowing me to form bonds with my students.

My Background:

After graduating with my BS from Coastal Carolina University in 2014, I taught English in South Korea for 4 months. This was a wonderful experience that allowed me to emerse myself in another culture and expand my world view. After returning to the US, I worked as an environmental scientist for 3 years.  During this time, I gained experience in applying my understanding of scientific concepts, but also missed my experiences in the classroom. I decided to pursue my teaching certification through the Alternate Route to teaching program. In 2017 I began teaching biology in Orange, NJ. I joined the Washington Township community in 2020 and have loved every moment since!
