BHMS Coffee Cafe Reopens!
Bunker Hill Middle School Students Celebrate the Reopening of the Bulldog Café Coffee Shop
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – A collection of Bunker Hill Middle School’s special education students kicked off the 2018-19 Bulldog Café on Friday, October 5, 2018. This is the second year in a row that the classrooms have opened the coffee shop and café, and “reopening day” featured free cups of coffee to all staff members.
In addition, staff who purchased a coffee card in any increment earned a spot in a raffle for a week’s worth of free coffee. Students also created and painted tile coffee coasters, which they were selling to staff to support their programs.
“The coasters were a huge hit, and we anticipate selling out,” BHMS teacher Briana DiBlasio said. “We also sent Jessie Chris home with her very own BHMS coaster,” she added, noting a visit by the national recording artist who was at the school for an anti-bullying program.
The students run the café alongside their teachers and aides, and it has been a great success.
“The coffee house continues to benefit our program because it gives our students the skills needed to work out in the community,” DiBlasio said. “We look forward to another successful year!”
