Guest Speaker Matt Pilla Shares Lessons on Life Skills
Matt Pilla, a volunteer from Choices of the Heart in Washington Township, stopped by Mark Devone’s and Lisa Bramante’s eighth-grade health class at Bunker Hill Middle School on October 9th for his second in a five-part lecture on life skills, responsible decision-making and building close, healthy relationships.
“I want you to get emotional and passionate about your goals, your life and your future,” Pilla told the students, “by making wise and healthy decisions about dating and relationships.”
He advised the students to call upon all of their resources – their minds, bodies, hearts, consciences and friends – to create deep, meaningful relationships that are physically and emotionally healthy.
“Irresponsible activity can have serious, life-changing consequences,” Pilla said after sharing eye-opening and alarming statistics on teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. “This is your life. These are your goals and dreams. We want you to stop and think how those goals can be interrupted at best, delayed, or, at worst, never achieved because of a decision you made without thought to its potential outcome.”
