Thomas Jefferson Elementary School Kindergarteners- Turned- Gardeners Celebrate Earth Day
Green thumbs were blooming in Megan Zilly’s and Karen Turetzky’s kindergarten classes at Thomas Jefferson on Earth Day – April 22nd – as students learned all about planting seeds and beautifying the earth. Hopefully the seeds themselves will bloom in several weeks.
After reading the book, The Tiny Seed, Zilly’s students created guides on how to plant seeds and placed sunflower seeds into cups of dirt. The class is hopeful that the sunflowers will be “taller than the school!”
Turetsky’s class learned all about the parts of the plants and also planted seeds with the hopes of sprouting morning glories, zinnias and petunias in the coming weeks.
Thomas Jefferson Elementary kindergarten student Lily Martini shows her completed guide and her planted seed.
TJ student Anna Gagliardi does her part for Earth Day.
TJ kindergarten teacher Megan Zilly and student Dominic Madden review his planting guide.
