BHMS Supports Martino Cartier’s Wigs and Wishes Foundation
Bunker Hill Middle School seventh graders joined music teacher Candy Maxwell in the recent presentation of a donation to the Wigs and Wishes Foundation, a local charity directed by hair stylist Martino Cartier, that supports patients who face hair loss because of medical treatments, including chemotherapy.
Maxwell, who received a diagnosis of early-stage multiple myeloma last summer, came through with a positive reaction following her treatments, including a stem cell transplant, and is now considered “in remission.” Maxwell was one of many recipients of a wig from Wigs and Wishes and wanted to give back to the organization that supported her recovery.
“Bunker Hill Middle School is so thankful to Martino Cartier and his cause that has supported the recovery so many people who have to endure the long journey of chemotherapy,” BHMS principal Mike D’Ostilio said. “Cartier's efforts make a world of difference to those battling cancer, and we are grateful that Mrs. Maxwell was among those who benefitted from his efforts.”
