Hurffville Elementary Raises $13,040 for American Heart Association Thrrough Jump Rope for Heart
Hurffville Elementary School physical education Melissa McNally teacher and her students are not only jumping rope, they are jumping for joy over their fundraising efforts that raised $13,040 for the American Heart Association through the school’s annual Jump Rope for Heart event. The total was the highest raised in the school’s history. Every student jumped rope for 40 minutes to show that jumping rope is a form of cardio exercise that is beneficial to the heart.
McNally presented lessons on heart health and nutrition leading up the event.
“I am so proud of my students who not only raised a lot of money for a great cause but also pledged to exercise for 60 minutes daily, choose water over sugary drinks and include fruits and vegetables in their daily meals,” McNally said.
Hurffville fifth-graders Antonella Boffa, Emma Boucher, Dema Shraim and Angela Larrea were among students who jumped their way to good heart health.
