Welcome to Ancient Egypt
Orchard Valley Middle School Sixth-Graders Get a Tour of Egypt from Former New Jersey Teacher of the Year
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – Sixth-graders in Mr. Chris Spina’s social studies classes at Orchard Valley Middle School recently welcomed retired New Jersey Teacher of the Year Tracey Fallon for a presentation on Egypt. The classes recently completed a unit on Ancient Egypt.
Fallon came to the classroom on February 7th to speak about his trips to see the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx, and many other historical sites in Lower Egypt. Combing artifacts such as statues, scribes (pen), papyrus, as well as gold rings and figures of Egyptian gods, Fallon dazzled the sixth-grade students with stories of adventures, mummies, and the mysterious tombs that Ancient Egyptians would use to honor the Pharaohs.
Fallon’s presentation included pictures he took inside the Pyramids, detailing the rituals and beliefs of the civilizations. Students reacted positively, saying that it felt as if he was their tour guide around Egypt, much like “Indiana Jones.”
In the above photo, Fallon (third from right) poses with some of the sixth-graders after his presentation.
