WTHS National Art Honor Society Welcomes Seven Inductees
The Washington Township High School chapter of the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) inducted seven new student-artists during a ceremony and reception on Monday, May 20, 2019. Under the direction of advisor and WTHS art teacher Christi Serra, the NAHS is an organization meant to inspire young artists and to recognize students who have shown an outstanding ability and interest in the arts.
The inductees included: Katelyn Craig (grade 11), Nicole Geaneotes (grade 10), Rebecca Gee (grade 10), Cheyenne Hammell (grade 12), Krista Rasiul (grade 12), Melanie Samaroo (grade 11) and Lauren Wilson (grade 12).
“The program is an opportunity for students to join together with like-minded peers to develop character, and service, and to bring the art department to the attention of the school and community,” Serra said. “These girls have helped to inspire other artists in the school as well as set a great example for the younger generation. They have completed hours of service, specifically in the field of art, in order to give of themselves for this common goal.”
NAHS seniors received rainbow cords and tassels for graduation and in recognition of their service in the NAHS. The celebration concluded with a reception where students, staff and guests were treated to an art gallery display of all the NAHS members’ work.
